I really enjoyed using the first G2 so much, that I frequently forgot that it was there. Over to many times of playing solitary, and tapping the deck area, the G2 became worn in just one area. There was only one other scratch that showed from dirt under the stylus. I thought it was time for replacement after having this one in place for over a year. The first time I ordered, I placed an order of two. Good thing too, the first one turned out to be a learning G2. It was so badly creased, I had to throw it out and use the second. That install turned out with only one wrinkle that was tolerable. Now it was time for a new G2. Thought the first install had taught me enough, and I remembered how difficult it was to install, that I was careful in the install of this G2. Not careful enough. It requires so much handling to get it under the edge of the screen that, I think it was oil from the hands that messed it all up. The PDA kept thinking something was touching the screen when there was nothing. So now I am ready to install the forth G2. And am now scared I just won't be able to get it, wasting yet another G2. I wanted to know if you have any further suggestions or ideas on installing the G2 past the instructions that come with it. The problem I am having is with the Dell X5, the Rim of the screen is so much smaller than the G2 that I can not get the G2 to buckle as required to go under the Rim without creasing the G2. That means, in the instructions, step 2 is the first hump to get over. I can usually get past that step with out the wrinkle though. The wrinkle doesn't happen until the last step where it requires a bubble to form in the center of the G2 to have it under all four edge before letting it go flat to the screen. Once in place, it fits tightly. It does not slip and slide. And it looks and feels like it's not even there. But there is no doubt it will have a wrinkle in it some place. Thanks for any further help you can provide. First of all, we appreciate your comments, and the time you've taken to share your experiences. Not being stressed about damaging your last G2 will help with installation, so if you crinkle and wrinkle it, let us know and we'll send a replacement. The thing to do is to inspect the bezel depth from the edges and start with the deepest edge - the most G2 you get in at the beginning will leave less to tuck in during the final steps. You might want to turn the device upside down and start installation from the opposite end. If there are any pressure-points, the digitizer will react and confuse the OS. We recommend gently jiggling the G2 up/down and side/side until the G2 is settled into its sweet spot. Please get back to us with any further comments/question. I think I found the secret I was looking for. Still not wanting to mess up my last G2 from installing it, I decided to try some of the things I have read people doing, using Overhead projector sheets. I first removed the old G2, and that resulted in a totally destroyed G2. I then used it to size the Projector cut. I installed the projector sheet without any problem. It was thin enough to bend without stress to the plastic. First movement of the stylus and the projector sheet was scratched. Boy, are those people clueless on how good the G2 is. I waited until this morning before attempting the G2 installation. Lets back up for a moment here and express how important following instructions can be. I thought I had, but I missed a few things. I first washed my hands. I got off all the oil. I then unpacked the G2 and managed to install it. Here's the secret. When tucking under the edge, if you feel resistance, keep pushing gently. It goes further. Push, twist and push. Eventually, there will be little need to bend the G2. Once installed, and without any wrinkles, I start cleaning the outer surface. That's another secret, important to keep the surface to surface area clean but the top surface can be cleaned after install. Now I get to the top right and what do I see, one speck of dirt between the surfaces. Damn. Well, at least now I know push, twist, push, will get it into position to pull it out. And it comes out. Third secret: did you catch the missing part of the instructions? Let's do it again. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. I should have used that can of air on the shelf on the other side of the room. I would not have had that speck of dust come from under the edge of the screen and get between the screens. Now I get the air. Clean everything again and reinstall. Push, twist and push. Now it's time for the final evaluation. It's clean. But all the pushing under the screen and it doesn't quit have the "sweet spot" anymore. It's just a little loose. I think with a little time the gasket sealant will re-adjust and fill the gaps I created. I'll see. And I am unsure, if the one little tiny wrinkle that can only be seen when holding it in the light just the right way, was created during removal or during the last install. Anyway, with as good as these G2's are, I shouldn't be looking for anymore, except to get my friends to buy them, for about another year. Maybe longer if I don't play so much solitary. ;-) Thanks for you prompt attention to my request. Dave PS. If you would like to post this to your web site, you have my authorization. I can't express (or you can't express) how important cleaning is.
