WHAT IS THE G2?

In December, 2001, www.PDAScreenProtectors.com released the Generation II (G2) screen protector. Not only is the G2 crystal clear, but it offers unmatched durability with its state-of-the-art scratch-resistant treatment. With normal use, the G3 will last indefinitely. We hope the G3 is the last screen protector you will ever buy for your PDA.

The G2 has become the screen protector of choice for thousands of PDA users around the world. PDASPC has been recognized by its customers for excellent products, service and support.

HOW DO THE G2 AND THE G3 COMPARE?

Clarity
The same crystal clear view!

Durability
The same state of the art surface that can stand up to steel wool!

So what's the difference?
The very tips of the corners have been trimmed off to make installation easier on a few devices - otherwise you can't tell them apart. The G2 has set the standard in clarity and durability - the G3 continues it.

The name "G3" refers to the 3rd batch of our exclusive material made only for PDA Screen Protectors.com. This represents our solid commitment to continue producing the clearest and longest lasting screen protectors in the world.

WHY SCREEN PROTECTION

Is screen protection really necessary?
Replacing the screen of your PDA can be very expensive and inconvenient. Keep your PDA like new with screen protection - the resell value will improve if the screen is scratch-free.

I am careful with my PDA, and it still gets scratched. Why?
Scratches happen to even the most careful user. All it takes is one tiny particle of dirt between the stylus and screen, and this micron-sized rock will tear into the surface resulting in a scratch. You feel a distinctive grind, and it's too late - the damage is done.

What if my screen is already scratched?
The use of screen protectors will stop further damage to your screen. Scratches on the screen's surface will be below the G3's surface, making it difficult to see the scratch.

THE G3 vs. HOME-MADE SCREEN PROTECTORS

Can I make my own screen protectors?
Certainly. Anyone can go to a stationery, office or art supply and find films and Mylar of all kinds. It all depends on whether you will be happy with the end-result. We encountered these problems:

  • Amount of time and energy spent finding a material
  • Finding a clean piece of material that isn't scratched, smudged and exposed to dirt and dust can be a challenge.
  • By the time it's cut, it will probably look handled and scratched.
  • Many plastic films actually tack onto the surface of the PDA
screen and produce an unsightly and dark, wet-looking blotch.
  • Many films and acetates are frosted, which tends to blur the view... some call it "Glare-Reduction" - we call it "Haze".
  • Those that are clear will usually scratch very easily.
  • If they don't scratch, they usually have a rubber-like feel, and tend to grip the stylus, giving it a sluggish feel.
We tested materials from manufacturers around the world, and none met the all of the objectives we had set out to accomplish, primarily: visual clarity and durability. The G3 material is manufactured to our specification and is not available anywhere else.

NON-ADHESIVE vs. ADHESIVE SCREEN PROTECTORS

Do PDASPC screen protectors use adhesives?
No. Screen protectors that stay on the PDA screen with adhesives have several disadvantages: they have to be applied perfectly; if dust lands on the adhesive side, it is nearly impossible to remove without damaging it and leaving an unsightly spot; removal can damage the screen in trying to pry the edge off. Some adhesives can lift the top layer of the screen and leave an air pocket, resulting in permanent Newton's Rings within the display's layers. Others can leave behind a residue on the screen.

How do PDASPC screen protectors stay on without adhesives?
PDASPC screen protectors are cut larger that the opening in the case. The G3 is gently tucked under all four edges of the case, completely protecting the screen.

Is removing the G3 necessary?
The G3 is meant to be installed once, and not removed under normal circumstances. Once the G3 is installed, it becomes a gasket to help completely seal out new dust. Since the G3 should not require repeated removal or replacement, its worth taking the time during installation to be vigilant about dust. Having a can of compressed air and a well lit, clean working area is highly recommended.

SUPER-CLEAR vs. GLARE-REDUCTION

Does PDASPC offer 'glare-reduction' screen protectors?
No. Most screen protectors on the market have a 'glare-reduction' finish, which simply have a textured surface to breaks-up and scatter the rays of light reflecting from the surface. Instead of seeing a clear reflection of a light bulb, you see a blurred patch of light - in our opinion, hardly a benefit. We believe visual clarity is a much more important feature.

How does a 'glare-reduced' screen protector affect contrast?
Holding a 'glare-reduced' protector up and looking through it blurs the view. The touch-screens used in PDAs are assembled in layers, with the touch-surface on top, and the image-surface further below. This space allows the light coming from the image-surface to flare before going through the screen protector. If this flared light is then scattered, the result is reduced contrast that gives the screen a milky or fogged view. With the G3, each pixel looks razor-sharp.

How does less contrast affect the view of the screen?
Black images begin to look washed-out and text can look fuzzy, making it likely for many PDA users get headaches or become tired easily. Photos and other images can look like they were taken in fog as they lose sharpness and intensity of color
